ARISE OH COMPATRIOT

“The trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of leadership. There is nothing wrong with the Nigerian land, climate, water, air, or anything else. The Nigerian problem is the unwillingness or inability of its leaders to rise to the responsibility and challenges of personal example, which is the hallmark of true leadership” Chinua Achebe I feel burdened and grieved severally looking at things around me in Nigeria. We pay for virtually everything. We pay to go to school, we pay to serve our father land, we pay to get jobs and the list goes on. It’s high time we spoke out and demand for what belong to us, things cannot continue as usual. PHCN will cease electricity for days and none can question them why. Police will molest and embarrass individuals and everyone feel it’s a norm. The roads are either deplorable or under construction for donkeys years which makes accidents occur easily. Everyone seems to fold their hands and pretend nothing is wrong. Greed is the order of the day in the corridors of power. No one seems to care for his or her own neighbor. Everyone seems to be cutting its own piece of the cake without thinking of the future and the future of the unborn child, little did we know that we are breeding unconsciously a next generation of sycophant and disaster is looming if care is not taken. People we esteem high have condescended and compromise their birthright on the platter of what they want to eat. Everyone wants to eat with their ten fingers and toes and if possible have a full load of basket on their head too. No one is accountable to anyone and everyone behave wild and desperate, taking advantage of every available insane opportunities. We have been silent for too long its high time we spoke. The power lies in our hands not in the hands of the greedy leaders. If and only if we can wake up to the clarion call this nation will be a better one. We’ve got the power in standing up for what is right and saying no for what is wrong. We’ve got the power in been patriotic as a citizen. By been socially responsible as an individual By performing our civic right Let’s rise and make Nigeria a better country. Philip Agboola @philipagboola philagboola@gmail.com 25E11827
